About

There is an absence of arenas and venues, in which women, particularly women of color, are able to speak, be heard, educate ourselves, and be empowered. This absence lead to the creation of QueensConnected and Us Now: A Sexual Health Conference for Women of Color by two health professionals (Naika Thomas & Akua Amoako-Tuffour).

QueensConnected is a socially engaged business that aims to empower women - with a focus on women of color, through education & entertainment, by raising health awareness, and promoting healthy lifestyles.

In 2020, QueensConnected will continue promoting the talent and knowledge of women of color in the greater Hamilton area so our voices can be heard, included, and embedded within our communities.

We believe all women can embrace who they are,
can define their future, and can change the world.

Naika Thomas is a public health nurse (PHN) and the owner of QueensConnected. As a PHN, she provides health education and support to teachers, students and community groups on the topics of sexual health, mental health, and nutrition to name a few.

With more than 10 years experience as a public health nurse, Naika completed her nursing degree at McMaster University. While working in Hamilton, her desire to address the social determinants of health within communities could not be contained so she completed a Master's of Public Health at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC.

Naika loves to travel, spend time with family and friends, and eat delicious food! She lives in Hamilton with her husband and two daughters.
